ContactVolunteer Services Connect Children with NatureBecome a Children's Walk GuideEvery school year, our children's walk guides introduce young children to the wonders of the natural world, often for the first time. Experience the Botanical Garden through a child's eyes and connect them with the environment through an exploration of the plants, animals and insects that flourish here. Our youth education department serves nearly 6,000 school children grades K-5 every year. SFBGS DocentsDetailsChildren's Walk Guides attend 12 consecutive training sessions which take place on Tuesday mornings from 9am–12:30pm, starting February 12, 2013. You'll learn basic ecology and botany along with techniques for engaging children outdoors through an exciting mix of hands-on classroom time, walk observation, and practice. No previous horticultural or teaching experience is required.
