In the cloud forests of Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental, the extensive shade makes reaching sunlight imperative. And that's exactly what our featured athlete, Hydrangea seemannii, does best. This robust vine attains Olympic heights, and in one instance, has climbed over 40 feet up a Monterey cypress! It's at its peak right now in the Nurseryman's Garden with a massive display of lovely lacecap flowers. Find out more in this month's In Bloom feature, along with photos, a plant profile and exact locations. |

On Your Next Visit
embraces the fog
|
While San Franciscans bemoan the return of summer fog, our Mesoamerican Cloud Forest revels in the natural air-conditioning our climate provides. Trek through its dense foliage this month and you'll feel transported to Central America. Against a backdrop of deep green, encounter Fuchsia boliviana's pendulous scarlet blooms and Bomarea's brilliant cascade of yellow and orange. Visit this month and discover even more – we think that this garden will help you embrace the fog!

Stories in the Stones
On a bright Saturday in June, over a hundred donors gathered at the Fountain Plaza for a very meaningful celebration of their stories now set in the granite paving stones around the fountain. Join us in celebrating these stories by adding yours. A limited amount of pavers are still available!
