Thank you Salesforce!
Volunteers lend a hand to reshape Heidelberg Hill

Check out for the ongoing transformation of Heidelberg Hill, as it changes from a mound of tangled ivy to a boulder-studded mediterranean climate hillside. San Francisco Recreation and Parks Gardener Jason Martinez, dreamed up this project four years ago, and thanks to two corporate volunteer groups and their generous grants, his dream is becoming a reality.

Through the collaborative efforts of Curator Dr. Don Mahoney, manpower and grants from Salesforce.com and Levi Strauss & Co., the hill is undergoing a dramatic renovation. On April 24th and 25th, two teams of hardworking Salesforce volunteers started the first phase of the plan – removing ivy, sculpting soil and planting. A generous grant from Salesforce allowed the Botanical Garden Society to purchase several gorgeous boulders weighing more than a ton and many mediterranean climate plants for the new garden.

On May 3rd, a group from Levi Strauss will be on-site to begin Phase Two of the project. Levi's grant also contributed to the purchase of plants and boulders.

A huge thanks to our wonderful corporate partners and volunteers and to Dr. Mahoney and Jason Martinez for all their hard work and dedication to this transformative project.
