Summer Reading Club

Summer Reading Club

Keep young minds and bodies active this summer by joining the Helen Crocker Russell Library's Summer Reading Club. This free* reading club engages children's learning about the natural world around them. Each week children are introduced to new nature-related reading themes and garden activities and receive seeds to plant as they reach weekly reading goals. Participants will receive a special prize for completing the entire eight-week program. Stay tuned for the fun hands-on activities we have in store for 2016!

Where: Helen Crocker Russell Library, San Francisco Botanical Garden
When: Starting June 1st.
Drop-in to the Summer Reading Club anytime 10am-4pm, six days a week (Library closed on Tuesdays)
Who: Children aged 0-12 (children who are not of reading age may be read to by adults or older kids)

This fun program is self-paced and children and families can drop-in to the Library any time during open hours starting June 1st to sign up, read stories, and log their reading accomplishments. Children are encouraged to read any books they wish and are not limited to reading lists or themes; all reading counts! Reading Logs include suggested titles, fun garden activities, and more.

Our collection of children's library books is available for all to enjoy. SFBG Members may check-out children's books from the Library to read at home. Non-members are welcome to read books on-site or start their own San Francisco Botanical Garden Society Membership at any level and immediately enjoy check-out privileges for the children's collection.
