Youth Education

The Youth Education Program serves over 10,000 San Francisco school-aged children and their families every year. School groups enjoy perennial favorites like our Guided School Walks and Children's Garden programs, families participate in Story Time Walks or the Urbia Treasure Hunt, and everyone can learn from fun online resources that bring the Botanical Garden to life!

Help city kids experience nature

Children's Docent Training


Over 5,500 San Francisco school children will visit the Botanical Garden this year and volunteers are needed to help guide them through the Garden and teach them about plants.

The next Children's Docent Training takes place Tuesday mornings starting February 12, 2013.

Hunt for Treasure in San Francisco

Check out this self-guided adventure experience, now available at the Garden Bookstore. Follow clues in a booklet that makes exploring the garden more exciting than ever, and a special hidden box rewards those who complete the botanical adventure!

Developed in collaboration with SFBGS, this program is both educational and entertaining for all ages.
