Volunteers help make it possible for us to serve 10,000 children a year with a wide variety of programs. Learn about opportunities for you to contribute your time, expertise and enthusiasm to help children discover the wonders of the natural world!

Garden Hours

Open daily at 7:30am / Closing is seasonal.


Weekly Workdays in the Children's Garden

Children's Docent

Every Saturday, 12–3pm February–October. Come volunteer with community members interested in:

  • growing food using organic practices
  • compost production
  • youth education
  • habitat restoration

Help city kids experience nature

Children's Docent Training

Over 5,500 San Francisco school children will visit the Botanical Garden this year and volunteers are needed to help guide them through the Garden and teach them about plants.

The next Children's Walk Training takes place Tuesday mornings starting September 22, 2015.
